Colourful Thank You

I managed to get up to some rare week night card making the other night. This is one of the cards I made. All those yummy Papertrey colours make me happy and I'm pleased to report that no full sheets of cardstock were harmed in the making of this one as I cut all the strips from scraps. Ha ha. (PTI shipping to Canada is pricey so I really hoard my card stock).

Hmmm, I'm wondering if this card looks better horizontal or vertical?

Distraction

No card today but thought I would share a cute picture Jake snapped this weekend. This is our dog, Akuna, trying to tell me I've spent too much time on the computer and it's time to pay attention to her.

Here she is again with a bone we got for her on Friday. I think she is overwhelmed by the size of it as she has hardly touched it (and this picture is totally staged). My husband even brushed some gravy on the end of the bone last night trying to get her interested in it.

Quickie Card

Well, it's Monday and my day started off with me remembering that a friend at work had asked me to bring in a card for a colleague of ours. Oops! I whipped this up in 10 minutes at 6:45am while I was waiting for the coffee to brew. Thank goodness for PTI's coordinating ink, cardstock, and buttons.

Looking at the photo now I realize it LOOKS like it took only 10 minutes...ha ha. Oh well. I really need to stamp some generic cards ahead of time that I can just add sentiments to as needed.

Thanks for visiting! I'm off to drool over the May 2010 edition of CARDS that arrived today. I usually get these mags delivered one to two months AFTER the issue month so it's a real treat to get this edition on time :).

LSC #88...Mini Cards!!

This week's Loonie Stampers Challenge was to case a card made by one of the Loonies. I could spend weeks doing that! But I remembered these little cuties made by Dee and decided to make a set with that same fabulous set (Dot Spot by PTI) and kraft paper. The sentiments are from PTIs Signature Greetings set, as is all ink and cs. I would love to try some of Dee's envelopes some time as well.

Thanks for visiting and be sure to visit the Loonies!! You can get to them from Dee's blog.

Clean and Simple Stamping FTL86

I have decided I really like the Clean and Simple Stamping challenge so played again this week. However, we had no internet for several hours yesterday (Oh, the horror!) and I was working from memory. Looks like I got the sentiment wrong (which is from PTI Baby Button Bits btw). Ever since I saw this amazing card I have wanted to use buttons in the same way and this challenge provided the perfect opportunity.

I made this card for my sister-in-law's step daughter who had a little boy one week ago.

Thanks for peeking!!

Embellish Challenge - Parties

I made this card last weekend when I was on a challenge kick. With spring and the warmer weather approaching I can't wait to start spending lots of time out on the deck with family and friends. We actually put out our patio furniture a few weeks ago (and it's been covered by snow twice since ha ha) and have been grilling for a while. I made this card with that in mind. I realize it's a far cry from the elegant inspiration picture but I had fun with the challenge.
The grill and sentiment are from the "From my Kitchen" Cricut cartridge. The dp is by Papertrey and the button is from my stash.

LSC #87

It's been a while since I played along with my very favourite challenge...the Loonie Stampers Challenge! My dear friend Char and her very good friends, some of who have become super supportive blog pals of mine :), put this one on every Friday and it's awesome!! This week was no exception. However, I have a confession to make. I made this card BEFORE I knew the challenge colours and really, the only "black" is the ink. So I felt it only right to make another card (but I pretty much just copied the first one).

Thanks girls for another great colour combo...keep 'em coming!

I also included a couple shots of the banana cake with (very droopy) cream cheese icing I made last night. I'm embarassed to say my family of three has finished it already. But in our defense we did have a guest last night for dinner and I did take a big piece to my mom today. Isn't that blue bundt pan fun? This is the first cake I have ever made in a bundt pan and I see many more in my future.

Thanks for stopping by!

My Pink Stamper Challenge

I couldn't pass on the opportunity to particpate in the MPS Challenge (I love Robyn!!), but I didn't have a lot of time tonight. The Challenge was to create a project using the Cricut and the colours pink, black and green. I have made a card very similar to this in the past and thought I would re-create in the challenge colours.

Please forgive the photo.

The deets: Tree from the Sweethearts Cricut Cartridge. Bitty Box dp in Sweet Blush and Bitty Dot dp in Spring Moss by Papertrey. Woodgrain stamp by Hero Arts stamped with PTI Fresh Snow Ink. Sentiment by PTI from the Everyday Button Bits stamp set.

The photo really is awful. I might try again in the day light.

Thanks for looking!

The Shabby Tea Room Challenge

Well, it seems this is a weekend of challeges for me. And boy was this one a challenge! I stumbled accross this AMAZING card which lead me to the Shabby Tea Room. I loved Amanda's card SO much it made me want to play along with this weeks challenge...although the vintage style is really not my thing. This card took me forever to make people!! But I kinda like it. I was at a total loss for a sentiment but I think the AE "thank you" works...sort of blends in I think.

The dp is Basic Grey and cs is PTI Vintage Cream. I used PTI Fancy Flourishes and Delightful Dahlia stamp sets. The buttons are PTI Spring Moss. I used copics YG93, YG95, and YG97 for the leaves and PTI Ripe Avacado and Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink. The crocheted lace is from my stash...a gift from my good pal Char. I think that covers all materials. Oh, the flower was made from the Accent Essential Cricut cartridge and I used PTI Chamomile ink for the edges. Geez, this card really did take me forever to make with all that schutff. But I watched the movie ``Prime`` on W while I crafted so was probably distracted a bit.

As always, thank you SO much for visiting my blog!!

Clean & Simple Stamping

Hello and Happy Saturday!

I decided to try a sketch challenge last night. This is not something I normally do. When I participate in challenges I usually stick to colour challenges, but I should have tried these a long time ago!! Having the layout decided is a nice break from trying to figure out where to put everything.

The sketch is this week's Clean and Simple Stamping challenge. I didn't follow it exactly, that's allowed, right? I am loving PTI's Dot Spot right now and chose to use that instead of leaves. All ink & buttons by PTI as is the kraft cs. The ric rac was from my stash. I think I picked it up at Joanne's on a trip to the States last April.

Well thanks for peeking and enjoy your day. Oh, and I did some colour challenges last night too...still may favourites!

Button Bits

I love the Button Bits sets by PTI. They are so perfect to use with those yummy PTI buttons. So when the Baby set came out I had to have it, even though I don't make many baby cards. I broke it out for the first time this week.

For this card I paired an image from the Baby set with a sentiment from the Everyday set. I also tried making grass for the first time.

Thanks for dropping by!

So Sweet (of You)

Happy Saturday!

Here's a little card to share that I made with Basic Grey Strawberry Shortcake paper and PTI cs and ribbon. The sentiment is also PTI from the Everyday Greetings set. Initially I passed on this stamp set but absolutley love it now!

Have a wonderful Easter and enjoy your family. My husband and I always host Christmas and leave Easter up to another family member, which is great because we don't have to cook but not great because we don't get have left overs in the fridge...ha ha.
