LSC #46 & My City Champ

I had a really hard time with the Loonie Stampers Challenge this week. First off, I have no saffron paper. Secondly, I had no idea what to do for background paper. So I looked to the Loonie Ladies themselves for inspiration. I followed Char in using Lemon Tart and again followed her and Regan's use of butterflies. As for my background, I used my trusty swiss dots folder and inked the dots with white (not sure if you can see it in the picture). It's not one of my favourite cards, but it's growing on me.

I also wanted the share (another) picture of Jake. I mentioned his lacrosse team in a couple of posts. Well, they did win the city championships after all. This is really exciting for him as he has never been on a team that has won cities in the 9 years he has been playing sports. Here is my proud boy.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you are having a super weekend!

Raspberry Suite Colour Challenge #10

Hello out there!
Here is my take on Dawn McVey's latest colour challenge. Lo and behold these are colours I would never combine on my own. In fact, I rarely even use the melon and berry colours at all. This is exactly why I love participating in challenges.

I hope you are having a grand week. This month seems to be whizzing by for me and I can't believe the kids are done school.
Thanks for visiting!

Thank You Coaches

I made these quick cards for my son's lacrosse team to sign for the coaches as the season is wrapping up. If two of them look feminine it's because two of our coaches (including the head coach) are female...how cool is that??!!
Thanks for visiting, I hope you are having a great week!

Candy Kabobs

I made these for my son's lacrosse team who finished the season first place in their division and just advanced to the final round in playoffs following a big win today. They were a hit with the kids at a team BBQ after the game.

The little pennants are from Martha Stewart Crafts. I purchased them months ago from the clearance section at Michaels. A little Scor Tape on each easily held them to the white card stock, which I stapled to pretzel bags (also from Micheals) filled with candy on a skewer. Sorry about the dark photo.

I told the kids I would be happy to make these again if they win the City Championship!

Thanks for visiting.

KWerner Colour Challenge #55

Well, I'm not too sure about this one. I liked it okay until I grunged up the ribbon. It's almost a crime to do so to my beloved PTI Vintage Cream grosrain!! I feel the charcoal ink took away from the ribbon rather than enhanced the card, but it seemed too bright without it.
I don't think think the shabby look is for me.
I will stick to the clean and simple style, with an emphasis on the SIMPLE!! :)

I hope you are having a lovely Saturday.

TGIF!

It has been such a long week, I thought Friday would never come. But here we are at last :)

This card was made with this week Loonie Stampers Challenge colours. I love this weekly challenge as it often features colour combos that I would never come up with myself. I quite like this week's colours together.

Be sure to visit the Loonie Ladies blogs to see their wonderful creations. You can start with my pal Char's blog and link to the others from there. It is a ritual for me to visit them all every Friday morning!

Have a GREAT weekend and thanks so much for visiting my little blog!

Love U

I've been practising my sewing skills and thought I would share my latest attempt. I love this colour combo. The pp is Jenni Bowlin that I got on clearance and the alphas are Heidi Swapp. The brad is from the Basic Grey Lime Rickey line.
It has been a while since I made a card without stamping. Sorry if the photo is dark...I took it after the sun went away.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you are having a fantastic week.

LSC #44

The Loonies came up with a very interesting colour combo this week. Talk about a challenge. I so rarely use yellow and NEVER use purple at all. This one was a little tough for me so I kept it simple. Be sure to visit Charlene's blog to see her fabo card and link onto all the other Loonie Ladies great creations.

I hope you are having a nice day and NOT stuck doing housework like me.

Thanks, Chickie!

Just a quick post to share a card I made last night. I love the PTI Handwritten Notes stamp set...so many great sentiments like this one. It's the first sentiment set I have ever purchased and I am happy that I am getting a lot of use out of it. The dp is Basic Grey Lime Rickey.

I hope you are having a great Saturday. Thanks for stopping by!

A Special Request

My good friend Char put the call out to send on some cheer in this post. Here is the card that answers the call. It is so scary how cancer touches so many of us these days...but also so wonderful that there are so many survivors out there! And I am sure Kerrianne's mom will join those ranks.

I love it when I can be part of crafting for a cause. A few months ago Charlene and I sent 60 cards to Stephanie Nielson. If you don't yet know the story of Nie Nie click here. This woman is amazing and her blog inspires me with every post.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great week! And if you get a chance please send a card off to Kerrianne's mom.

LSC #43

The Loonie Ladies were at it again with another great challenge this week . Pink, yellow, and grey would not jump out at me to put together, but the result is beautiful. AND the challenge gave me an opportunity to try PTIs Smokey Shadow cs, which I love. AND isn't it a strange coincidence that I bought Heidi Swapp felt flowers on clearance in BOTH yellow and pink just this very week? I had to use them.

Please visit Char's blog to see her great card and she has links to all the other Loonies super cool creations. Polka dots seemed to be a secondary theme this week.

As for my card, simple as usual. Somehow turning a simple card into a set of note cards makes me feel better about my basic cards. Thanks for stopping by.

Blueberry Mini Tarts

Despite the fact that it is snowing out right now and not looking good for tomorrow, we are going to a lobster party tomorrow. I had planned on bringing a fruit pizza on shortbread crust but due to the weather today I didn't get to the grocery store. I had to come up with something with ingredients I had on hand. I had pastry for a half a pie crust in the freezer and some fresh blueberries. These are what I made:

I was only able to get 16 tarts from my pastry so had to do the rest with ready-made Tenderflake. I have never made fruit tarts before and was a little too generous with the filling, as you can see in the "after" picture below. Oh, and this handy device was awesome to use. I didn't even have to roll out my pastry...just formed it into balls and squashed each with the tool. The filling is simply blueberries tossed in sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice (exact filling recipe here). Easy peasey!

And yes, there ARE a few missing in the after picture ;) Soooo yummy.

The Best Thing I Ever Made

This is my son Jake. He HATES getting his picture taken but I forced a photo op following his receiving an award at his school Athletic Banquet yesterday. This is the closest thing I get to a smile these days as he is a cool teenager, afterall.

Maybe when he is acting too cool for mom I need to remind him of this silly business...

Thank Goodness he doesn't read my blog!!

But I'm glad YOU do!.

Happy Friday!!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #8

I have been wanting to make another button tree card for awhile, since making this one some time ago. I absolutely adore pink trees and really want to put a flowering crabapple tree in our back yard. Unfortunately, they get quite big and our yard is small. AND we have already planted four trees back there...but I think we may be able to get just ONE more back there ;).

This picture is of the tree right outside my office window at work. I am not sure what type it is, but it's lovely. It blooms a beautiful bright pink then fades to almost white. It could be a flowering crabapple for all I know!

Needless to say, my card was inspired by my love of pink trees (and Dawn McVey's colour challenge of course!!).

Thanks for visiting!

LSC #40

I made this card a couple of weeks ago for the LSC #40. I loved the challenge, but not my card. I thought I would post it anyways.

It was very warm and sunny here today and I sure could go for an iced Starbucks right about now.

I hope the sun is also shining for you today!

Hey!

Well, it's Monday and that means back to work for me. I didn't do as much cooking and crafting as I had hoped to over the weekend, but did manage to make a few things

including this recipe and the card above.

I picked up the wood grain stamp (by All Night Media) from Michaels over the weekend and this was my first project with it. I hope to find some time during the week to play with it some more as it's very fun. Even my 13 year old son thought it was cool!

Have a great day!
