Another Thank You

A family in the neighbourhood with grown children no longer had use for their basketball net and so gave it to my son Jake. He has always wanted a free standing net but never quite badly enough that it made it on a Christmas or Birthday wish list...ha ha. He was thrilled to get it and has been shooting hoops almost daily.

I sent the card above with some cookies to thank the family for their generosity. I quickly (5 mins!) decorated a tin and filled it with an assortment of cookies and had Jake deliver to them. They pass by our house often while walking their dog and have seen Jake playing with the net a few times already. This makes me smile. Here's the tin.

The card is the final one I made with the PTI Beautiful Blooms branch stamp and the Ali Edwards sentiment from the Loving Words set. Have a wonderful day and thanks for visiting!

LSC #55 - Happy Birthday Dee!!

So how fun is this? Dee, one of the Loonie Ladies, was duped this week by her fellow Loonies. Her birthday is this week and her cohorts arranged for some crafty ladies to play along in a surprise for her.

An unsuspecting Dee was given colours she THOUGHT everyone would be using in this week's challenge. The real challenge issued was to make a birthday card and send it to Dee. As Dee has always been so sweet and supportive in her comments on my blog, and also once sent me some great blog candy, I was eager to participate. Happy Birthday Dee, I hope you like your card!

Be sure to check out Dee's fellow Loonie Stampers to see what they came up with for her. I can't wait to check out all the cards, including Dee's...ha ha.

Yummy Thank You

ETA: changed the photo as the text was too funky with a large picture on the left.

Although I don't post much about baking here on the blog, it is something I love to do. And what I love to bake the most are cookies! In fact, today I baked 4 dozen each of skor bit cookies, mini chocolate chip peanut butter cookies, and oatmeal raisin.

So, when an associates wife recently offered me this cookbook I was thrilled! Apparently, she doesn't like Martha? Now that is just crazy talk!! This is the thank you card I made for her. Another one with the branch image from the PTI Beautiful Blooms set (love that image!). Maybe I should have used some Martha products on the card though....tee hee.

So, what's your favourite cookie? Got any good recipes to pass along?

Papertrey Ink August Blog Hop

Hello!! This is the first time I have participated in the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. When I think about Fall I think about the leaves turning colour and of Thanksgiving, which is in early October for us Canadians (can't wait for turkey and all the trimmings!).

Okay, the story on these cards...I saw this wonderful branch used as a background stamp on a card displayed at CHA. I wasn't ACTUALLY at CHA, I saw the card in a photo on Dawn McVey's blog in this post. Since then I have been on a mission to find it. I went thru Nichole's archives and found the very card and name of the set! Lucky for me my good pal Char owns the Beautiful Blooms set so I was able to get my hands on this stamp. It coordinates with the Green Tea Leaves paper perfectly. I have seriously debated buying the set for this single image!!

I only intended to make a single Thank You card but was having so much fun with the background stamping that I decided to make a set in rich fall colours. But I wasn't quite done after 4 cards so I continued with the coordinating colours of the Green Tea Leaves paper. All products are PTI except the Ali Edwards sentiments from the Loving Words set, Versamark and Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I have some special people in mind that I will send these cards to this Fall. I actually made another 2 other cards with the background image as well. So after 10 cards I am *almost* ready to return this set to Char!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog! I can't wait to check our all the other projects myself.

Raspberry Suite Colour Challenge...thanks so much!

Hi!

It's Monday already and the kids go back to school on Thursday of this week. The summer went by so quickly. I am off work for a few days in an attempt to get organized for the coming school year and hockey season, but all I want to do is stamp.

This card was made for Dawn's latest colour challenge. It was inspired by this card which I absolutely love. I'm wishing now that I had stamped the Moss cs with polka dots rather than used the pp as it just looks weird to me. The card itself is a 'scrapling' and measures 3.5" x 5.5".

I've realized lately that I have A LOT of cards sitting around with no purpose to them. I am trying to make cards that I can use, such as Birthdays and Thank Yous. I made this card for my wonderful, sweet co-worker Lorna who sits beside me at the office. On Friday she bought me this little orchid plant "just because," which I love so much. A few months ago she gifted me with some Orchid Pomegranate Liquor after a particularly crazy day when she thought I could use beverage. As you can see form the picture below, the bottle is just too pretty to open so I keep it in my craft room as a decoration. I am so lucky to have such a thoughtful friend and co-worker.

Have a wonderful day and thanks for visiting my blog!

LSC #54 Aluminum Foil

Oh, those Loonies! First Christmas in July, more recently a man card, and now...aluminum foil? What happened to the simple, colour challenges featuring beautiful PTI products? Well, I suppose it IS a challenge and this week was no exception. Actually, this was a lot of fun! And I have to say I was BLOWN AWAY by the Loonie Ladies themselves with their cards. It was so nice to see them all back in the groove this week, too. Be sure to check 'em all out!

Blue Jean Baby...

This isn't a baby card but when ever I look at the denim flower I think about that line from my favourite song. Anybody know what it is?

Anyways, this one started with me playing with my Polka Dots Basics set and some Enchanted Evening ink on a scrap piece of Ocean Tides card stock. Oh, how I love Papertrey Ink products! I liked the background I ended up stamping but it was so little I wasn't sure what to do with it or how to incorporate a sentiment. The flower was a spur of the moment thing. I will have to look online for some ideas on how to make nicer ones as I still have 99.5% of two old pairs of jeans!!

Looking at my blog I see an overload of the polka dot lately so I may leave that set alone for a while...ha ha. I picked up some new Ali Edwards stamps today so hopefully I will get busy with those soon.

Thank you for visiting my blog!

Everday Button Bits

Here are a couple of cards I made when I got the Button Bits set. I must say that I am having difficulty doing anything original with this set that I haven't seen on other blogs, but I still love it. And I love, love, love that Scarlet Jewel with my favourite greens.

And here is my husband (not sure what's with the squint) installing new pipes on his motorcycle. I should say installing very LOUD new pipes on his motorcycle. I'm not quite sure what was wrong with the original manufacturer's pipes, but whatever. He has his hobbies, I have mine... ;).

Thanks, Chickie!

I didn't know what I had in mind last night when I pulled out some Raspberry Fizz cs and a few PTI stamp sets. I eventually came up with this. It was the first time I used this delicious ribbon (even though I have had forever), and the first time I used this image from the Everyday Button Bits set. I am not a girly girl by any means but I had pink on the brain.

Thanks for peeking, Chickies!

LSC #53 - Man Card

I took the opportunity to play along with the Loonies this week and make a simple 'just because' card for my husband. As he normally gets exactly two cards from me per year he was quite pleased to get one out of the blue. Until I took it back from him to photograph for my blog that is, and put on a shelf in my craft room! I am like my pal Char, a card maker not a card giver!

Thanks for stopping by.

Raspberry Suite Colour Challenge #14...Embrace the Purple?

I love Dawn McVey's blog and try to participate in her colour challenges often, but this one was really, really hard for me! Bright pink and purple, TOGETHER? On the same card?? Well, at least this challenge gave me a chance to visit an old friend...Raspberry Fizz. When this colour came out I was *so* smitten. These days, I think the Scarlet Jewel and Enchanted Evening have won me over as new favourites.

I originally intended to use tulips on this card, but found this flower on the Home Decor cartridge and decided to try it. I also decided to try the ruched ribbon effect, which I first saw on Dawn's blog. All products are PTI on this one with the exception of the Kaiser jewels.

Now I'm off to see the other cards (and feel totally inadequate with mine...ha ha)!

Thanks SO much for visiting my blog!

LSC #52

This is one of my favourite Loonie Stampers Challenges in a while. I just love these rich, yet vibrant, colours. When I saw this colour map it reminded me of colours in my own home, and of Fall. Orange and green are my favourites, and a couple of years ago I took the plunge and covered our builder's beige walls in the family room off the kitchen with a burnt orange (Well, I didn't actually paint them....I left that to my sister who is a professional painter ha ha). Here's a shot of one of the corners in the room.

As for my card, I used my Cricut again (twice in one weekend, not bad!) to cut out the branches. I knew I wanted to use coloured branches but wasn't sure what I would use for the sentiment(which is a rub-on on acetate). That expression "friends forever" is so junior high to me, but it worked well on the card.

Please visit the Loonie Ladies to see their wonderful and inspiring creations. As my pal Char is just back from vaca I am going to link up Regan this week , who issued the challenge.

Thanks for visiting and have a fantastic day!

Cricut Project #1

So, how cute is this? I just had to have the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge when I bought my Cricut, yet I have never used it!

I made this little purse for my niece, Codi, who is turning 14 in a few days. She is going to Vegas (lucky girl) with her mom and grandma in a couple of weeks, so I will tuck a little American money in here for her trip as a birthday present. The purse is teeny...3 x 2.5 inches. I used velcro as a fastener underneath the over hang. I would have liked to make it pink and frilly but she is more into the Twilight-vampire scene these days so it had to be black. It took about 15 minutes from start to finish and more fun than simply tucking cash in a card (which I have yet to make).

I`ve decided to challenge myself to use my Cricut more and post the projects I complete. Thanks for checking out the first one!

Well, hello!

I made this card on the weekend but it has been so grey and rainy all week I have not been able to take a picture. This was the best I could do. Just as well with the weather as I have had to work all week. Hopefully the sun will return soon though!

Oh, and those little chipboard trees took forever! But I did have fun making this card :).

Thanks for visiting!

Day Tripping!

Not too much happening on the craft front this weekend as we have been out and about. My son Jake is home after a week away. The friends Jake had been staying with in Claresholm introduced us to the Saskatoon Farm today. I didn't even know this place existed and it is less than an hour away from my house! Unfortunately, I forgot my camera so I can't show you how amazing it is, but trust me THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!! You can pick your own Saskatoon berries, visit the green houses and gift shop, and they have fantastic food served in a beautiful dining room. We had a great lunch after touring around.

I purchased the decorative dress form in the picture above from their fabulous gift shop. It looked like it belonged in my craft room and I could not leave it behind! It stands 34 inches high and I already love it.

Yesterday my dh, our dog and I spent the day in the mountains. We drove to Radium Hot Springs for lunch and hiked at Mt. Assiniboine Provincial Park on the way home. Such beautiful scenery and Akuna loved the swimming. Here's a few shots from our hike.

I hope you weren't bored with my non-crafty post and even more so I hope you are having a fabulous weekend!!
