I would rate the condition as fair and very, very dirty. I spent close to 4 hours cleaning it but could probably work on it for days. My husband (who is not the world's most patient man) suggested I use his power washer on it. Ha! My efforts did improve it slightly as you can see by the photo below (taken after the first third had been cleaned).
The tray has paper backing which was
Other great finds of the day were two lamp shades in perfect condition for $1 each.
I thought I might cover them but they actually work well in our family room as is.
I almost passed on these charger plates. At $10 they seemed expensive until I realized there were 12 of them, and many still had original price tags of $4 each on the bottom. They will be nice with our Christmas table setting which is orange, cream, and gold.
The other items are a new black Ikea floating shelf which retails for $20 and was bought for $5, a wire fruit bowl bought for $2, two books that were 50 cent each, and a new set of rubber alpha stamps that I picked up for $2.
So there's my haul for the day. Not bad for $27, hey? Not to mention I had a great day with a super friend.
I'll be linking this up to Southern Hospitality.
OMG you lucky girls!! Love that letterpress tray!!! It is the best for storing stamps, isn't it!! And your other finds are pretty fabulous as well. You girls and your treasures. Still not sure if I could do it but after seeing this haul it might be worth a try. :-)
ReplyDeleteHoly Moly Steph....I thought that letterpress tray was gorgeous when we found it but OMG it is amazing how great it looks not that it's cleaned {too funny that Doug suggested power washing it}. No wonder you didn't email last night....you were too busy cleaning it. lol. It was such a fun day!!! Thanks for being my thrifty treasures buddy!
ReplyDeleteyou got some really great stuff! Love the lamp shades!
ReplyDeleteYou did great! That tray is amazing, and I love the way you decided to use it. :) I also really like those lamp shades...I would kill for a pair of those! Visiting from Rhoda's party! :)

ReplyDeleteYou also did well on the floating shelf too!!!
You're one lucky lady!
You did fantastic for under $30. Sounds like one of those sales that is almost too good to be true. I'd love to find an old letterpress tray. I used one in a printing class back in high school. And I have enough stamps to fill all the nooks and crannies. Great price on the lamp shades too.
ReplyDeleteAnd the price of books has doubled around here!
Oh my! You are a bargain shopper for sure--I love what you found!! The letter tray is awesome!!
ReplyDeleteOMG what a deal on the printers tray and thanks for showing how you displayed it. I have one and now I know what to put in it. Great finds. Happy Monday,

That letter press is fantastic. I'll bet you are still pinching yourself to see if you are dreaming. Great shopping, girl. Linda
ReplyDeleteWow that letter press tray was a SUPER find. I remember years ago a friend of mine had one (her mother was into antiques) and she used it as a shadow box to put all of her cute little trinkets. I always wanted one just like it.
ReplyDeleteI have been lucky enough to find letter press trays, clean them up and sell them. They are perfect for holding little treasures. Good finds.
